Over my 25-year career, I’ve dedicated 13 years as an adjunct professor and served as a guest lecturer at numerous universities. I’ve had the privilege of bringing real-world insights into academic settings, integrating data, digital, and AI strategies into classrooms and educating thousands of students across diverse institutions.

By bridging the gap between theory and practice, I’ve equipped students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s fast-evolving digital landscape. My focus has always been on delivering practical, actionable insights that students can immediately apply to their projects and careers.

This experience of blending real-world digital strategy with academic learning has been deeply rewarding. It has been an honor to support the next generation of talent, helping them succeed in their careers while contributing to the growth of the academic community.

University of Texas at Dallas | AI Guest Lecture | [February 2025 ]

Tom Edwards, AI Keynote speaker, had the privilege of serving as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas at Dallas, speaking to data and analytics graduate students about the transformative role of artificial intelligence in today’s industries. 

It was an exciting opportunity to share real-world insights on how AI is driving innovation, shaping business strategies, and creating new career opportunities.

During the session, we explored how AI is reshaping industries, from automating operations and enhancing decision-making to redefining customer experiences.

We discussed practical applications across key sectors, including consumer products, healthcare, retail, giving students a clear picture of how data and AI intersect to drive measurable impact.

Beyond AI’s technical applications, I also shared career advice, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and strategic problem-solving in the AI-driven workforce.

As AI becomes an integral part of business strategy, professionals with strong analytical skills, business acumen, and ethical awareness will be in high demand.

The engagement and curiosity from the students was fantastic. I found their questions insightful and they had an eagerness to explore AI’s potential to accelerate their careers.

I recently had the opportunity to join the interim dean of the TCU Neeley School of Business, Hettie Richardson, on stage at an exclusive TCU Alumni Association event in downtown Dallas to discuss various aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its implications for business leaders.

The discussion covered the following: How AI has been implemented into business, the Human-centric future with AI, the importance of upskilling, how businesses can leverage AI to innovate and stay competitive, human skills that will remain relevant, and establishing a culture of lifelong learning.

As a guest lecturer at the Texas Christian University (TCU) Neeley School of Business, I had the opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics related to marketing, consumer behavior, and omnichannel strategy. Drawing on my extensive industry experience and expertise, I provided real-world examples of successful marketing plans and approaches, helping students understand how to apply these concepts in practice.

Throughout my lecture, I emphasized the importance of understanding consumer behavior and the need for a comprehensive omnichannel strategy that encompasses all touchpoints in the customer journey. SMU | Adjunct Faculty & Big Data Advisory  | [August 2016 – May 2020]

Temerlin Advertising Institute [August 2017 – May 2020] 

As an adjunct faculty member at Southern Methodist University (SMU), I had the privilege of instructing the ADV 4399-001 Advertising Campaigns senior-level course. Throughout the course, I was able to share my extensive knowledge and expertise in advertising, helping students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in this dynamic field.

Using a hands-on and practical approach, I guided students through the process of developing effective advertising campaigns, from initial research and planning to execution and evaluation. Through individual and team-based projects, students were able to apply their learning and gain valuable experience working in a real-world advertising environment.

2019-2020 SMU Big Data Advisory Council Member

I had the privilege of serving as a member of the 2019-2020 SMU Big Data Advisory Council. In this role, I worked closely with other industry experts and academics to provide guidance and insights on how SMU could enhance its programs and initiatives related to big data.

Through a series of meetings and discussions, we explored the latest trends and best practices in big data and discussed how SMU could incorporate these insights into its curriculum and research activities. As a member of the advisory council, I was able to share my own experiences and perspectives, while also learning from my fellow members and contributing to the broader conversation.

Digital Accelerator Faculty [August 2016 – 2018]

As a digital strategist and transformation expert, I had the opportunity to share my expertise with students as an instructor in the SMU Digital Accelerator program. Specifically, I taught courses on digital strategy and digital transformation, helping students gain a deep understanding of the latest trends and best practices in these critical areas.

Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises, I provided students with practical tools and insights to help them develop effective digital strategies and implement successful transformation initiatives. Whether it was exploring the latest technologies, analyzing consumer behavior, or developing new business models, I helped students navigate the complex and rapidly evolving digital landscape.

As a dedicated member of the Wayland Baptist University Virtual Campus for over twelve years, I had the honor of instructing thousands of students from all over the world. Over the course of my tenure, I covered a diverse range of topics, including consumer behavior, global marketing, principles of marketing, and advertising and promotion.

Through my engaging and informative instruction, I was able to provide students with valuable insights and practical knowledge that they could apply in their future careers.
